About Seller: Johnson Brothers was founded by Edwin Johnson, Sr. in 1947 after he decided to start his own business. He began by constructing the company's first roll forming machine in his basement, which is now in storage. Edwin offered his five brothers an equal share of the business if they matched his life savings, a $700 investment. Only one brother, Harold Johnson, accepted the offer, leading to the name Johnson Brothers. The first machine was later disassembled from the basement, moved to Edwin's garage, and reassembled for production. As the business grew and production increased, neighbors complained about the noise and Edwin had to find a new location. The brothers eventually found an uninsulated garage in Chicago, which they converted into a plant with an office and heating for the cold months. Over the years, Johnson Brothers has transitioned from focusing on lockseam and openseam tubing to producing a variety of shapes for industrial use, including computer-controlled fabrication. They work with different metals, prefinished or plain, and in various thicknesses, shipping their products across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and parts of Europe. With sales reaching seven million dollars and employing 36 full-time and six part-time workers, Johnson Brothers has faced challenges due to outsourcing but remains optimistic about the future.
