About Seller: The achievements of the Garthwait family have played a significant role in showcasing the strong work ethic that America has always admired in individuals from Connecticut. By combining entrepreneurship with the traditional machining skills historically linked to New England, they have successfully developed Line Manufacturing, Inc. into a reliable provider of specialized precision metal stampings. In 1932, Ralph and Clyde Garthwait established Line Manufacturing in a two-car garage with $400 each to invest. Their initial product line included broom caps, and they worked tirelessly, often putting in 15- to 16-hour days, even on weekends. By 1939, the business was generating annual shipments of $275,000 and had expanded to occupy a 1,000-square-foot space nearby with just one full-time employee. Following Ralph's passing in the same year and Clyde's departure from the business, Helen Garthwait, Ralph's widow, took over and successfully ran the company when Ralph's sons, John and Joseph, were called to serve in World War II. The history of the Garthwait family business is a blend of determination, hard work, and a commitment to customer service that has led to consistent growth over time, challenging the prevailing negative perceptions about the capabilities of American industry to establish world-class operations. Today, under the leadership of third-generation members Bruce Garthwait, Joseph Garthwait, Jr., and Gregory Garthwait, Line Manufacturing operates out of a 20,000-square-foot facility on company-owned land in Wolcott, Connecticut.
