About Seller: Chicago Metal Manufacturing Company was established in 1908. In 1923, George F. Hauf, the grandfather of the current management, acquired the company. In 1984, Chicago Metal Rolled Products (CMRP) began specializing in the curving of steel and aluminum structural members, as well as sheet and plate materials. In 1992, CMRP acquired "Big Bend," the largest angle roll in the Western hemisphere, capable of curving 36-inch beams. The acquisition of Wallace Tube in 1994 expanded CMRP's capabilities to include pipe and tube bending.
In 1996, CMRP purchased a second large angle roll and implemented a rapid response system, significantly reducing turnaround times for customers. An on-time delivery program was established, resulting in a 98% on-time shipping record that has been maintained to the present day. In 1999, CMRP began operating the world's largest structural roll-curving machine at its new 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility, capable of bending W44 in. x 285 lb. ft. x 120 ft. long beams.
CMRP developed technology in 1999 to bend structurals to extremely tight radii with minimal distortion. In 2001, the company expanded its capabilities to include the roll curving of 14-, 16-, 18-, and 20-inch diameter pipe in addition to smaller sizes. By 2002, CMRP had expertise in compound rolling, off-axis rolling, and helical rolling to create unique structural steel shapes for applications such as canopies, arched roofs, stair stringers, and domes.
To better serve customers in the central, southern, and western United States, CMRP opened a new rolling facility in Kansas City, MO in 2004. This expansion provided increased capacity, faster service, and reduced freight costs for clients.
