In 1942, Ted Quarnstrom founded Detroit Mold Engineering (later known as D-M-E Company) with the purpose of offering mold bases in standard sizes that were ready for cavity machining. This groundbreaking initiative enabled moldmakers to enhance their craft more effectively, leading to the development of the standard mold base concept. D-M-E is dedicated to assisting moldmakers, molders, and mold designers in achieving superior part production. Each D-M-E product is designed to lower costs, shorten time-to-market, and enhance the quality of finished molded products, often achieving all three objectives.
