In 1942, Ted Quarnstrom founded Detroit Mold Engineering (later known as D-M-E Company) with the purpose of supplying mold bases in standard sizes, ready for cavity machining. This revolutionary approach enabled moldmakers to work more effectively and introduced the concept of the standard mold base. D-M-E is dedicated to assisting moldmakers, molders, and mold designers in producing superior parts.
