About Seller: Electric Indicator Company (ELINCO) was established in 1926 in Stamford, Connecticut with the goal of manufacturing instruments and controls for electric utility companies. In the lead up to World War II, the company expanded into the specialty fractional horsepower motor industry, a sector it has remained in ever since, focusing on the design and production of high-performance precision electric motors in Connecticut. ELINCO relocated several times over the years, moving to Wilton, Connecticut in 1962, Norwalk, Connecticut in 1973, and ultimately settling in Fairfield and Bridgeport, Connecticut in 2000. In 2000, certain motor manufacturing operations were shifted to Asia, while light manufacturing and value-added services were consolidated in Fairfield and Bridgeport. In 1991, ELINCO acquired Japanese Products Corporation, enhancing its distribution network and product offerings with high-technology products from Nidec-Servo (formerly Japan Servo), a prominent $12 billion manufacturer of Brushless DC motors worldwide. Japanese Products Corporation, founded by a former Perkin Elmer engineer in 1969, initially focused on distributing motors and fans from Japan Servo Company (now Nidec Servo) across North America. The company experienced substantial growth in the 1970s and 1980s, serving various markets including Hard Disk Drives by providing drive motors. In the 1990s and 2000s, Japanese Products Corporation expanded into diverse industries such as medical devices, lighting, automotive, telecommunications, and more. ELINCO's sister company, Elinco International, Inc., specializes in the manufacturing of brushless DC motors. With a team of experienced executives and managers in the motor and air-moving products industry, the company has established a robust sales network in North America and developed strong partnerships in Asia and Europe. Elinco JPC's primary focus is on brushless DC motors and cooling fans, as well as value-added services such as encoders, gears, gearboxes, drivers/controllers, and integrated motion or cooling systems. The company is known for its innovation in motor technology, particularly with the development of the Hysteresis Synchronous motor and the slotless brushless DC motor in the early 1980s. This proprietary technology has led to the production of over 6000 slotless brushless DC motors by ELINCO JPC. In 1993, ELINCO JPC acquired the General Electric SELSYN (self-synchronous) motor line, followed by the acquisition of the Inertial motor product line in 1994, which was relocated from Doylestown, Pennsylvania to the Norwalk plant. The Inertial products offered by ELINCO JPC feature extremely low inertia and can accelerate to 5000 RPM in less than one millisecond. Additionally, in 1994, a portion of the Philips Airpax motor line was acquired by the company.
