About Seller: The achievements of the Garthwait family have played a significant role in demonstrating the strong work ethic associated with Connecticut residents and have earned admiration across America. By combining entrepreneurship with the traditional machining skills of New England, Line Manufacturing, Inc. has become a reliable supplier of specialized precision metal stampings. Established in 1932 by Ralph and Clyde Garthwait in a two-car garage with an initial investment of $400 each, the company initially focused on producing broom caps. Despite working 15- to 16-hour days, including weekends, the brothers managed to grow the business, reaching $275,000 in annual shipments by 1939 with just one full-time employee. Following Ralph's passing and Clyde's departure from the business, Helen Garthwait, Ralph's widow, took over the company and successfully kept it running during the absence of Ralph's heirs, John and Joseph, who were serving in World War II. The history of the Garthwait enterprise embodies perseverance, hard work, and a commitment to customer service, resulting in continuous growth and challenging the negative perceptions of U.S. industry capabilities. Currently, under the leadership of third-generation family members Bruce Garthwait, Joseph Garthwait Jr., and Gregory Garthwait, Line Manufacturing operates out of a 20,000-square-foot facility on company-owned land in Wolcott, Connecticut.
