About Seller: In 1965, a group of individuals with expertise in technologies related to cemented tungsten carbide and the metalworking industry came together to establish The Ultra-met Company in Urbana, Ohio. Initially, their focus was on supplying high-quality insert blanks to toolmakers and fabricators. Over the years, Ultra-met developed a wide range of tooling and the expertise to effectively apply different grades suitable for various metalworking applications. Today, The Ultra-met Company is renowned for the quality and consistency of its grades, as well as its responsiveness and efficient delivery thanks to a well-maintained inventory of tooling. In 1986, the Krupp-Widia Corporation of West Germany acquired the successful company from its founders, which by then had expanded into providing wear parts and products for the mining and construction industries. While Krupp-Widia's primary focus was on the metalworking industry, all product areas of Ultra-met benefited from the infusion of technology and the emphasis on procedures and traceability. However, with the European economy facing challenges in the early 1990s, Krupp-Widia decided to consolidate resources and focus on select applications outside their home market. As a result, The Ultra-met Company was sold in May 1993 and the new ownership established itself as The Ultra-met Company in Ohio. The new owners are committed to local involvement and dedicated to expanding the business in traditional markets through investments in modern technologies and hard work.
